Tully Schools installs new digital signage system

Tully, NY – Packet TV, a systems integrator for digital signage networks, announced that it has deployed a new digital signage system for Tully Central Schools. The system, installed at the high school facility, allows both students and administrators access to an innovative communication tool that highlights school and local events.

Packet TV’s individualized approach for Tully Schools utilizes web based software that simplifies the hardware footprint and provides access to real time content.  Users can login from an Internet-accessible browser to update and schedule content from anywhere and at any time of day. Although Packet TV typically provides all of the associated hardware and software for new customers, the company was able to integrate the school’s existing in-house cable distribution as well as two previously installed 42” plasma screens in this customized solution. Both screens are located in the schools dual purpose common area / cafeteria.
 
Included with the system is access to local and national news data, current weather forecasts, and Packet TV’s proactive customer support and monitoring. Therefore, staff and students can quickly create eye catching content using built-in templates, Power Point, flash, video, or web sites. For more complex graphic solutions, customers can work with Packet TV’s in-house graphics department which specializes in digital signage content.

Focused sound may be all the rage lately in digital signage, but omni-directional audio still  can prove to be an effective tool when integrated properly. 

Packet TV recently demonstrated this using the SD4 Super Dispersion Pro Ceiling speakers. Providing 360 degrees of audio coverage and fitting into a standard 2’ x 2’ or 2′ x 4′ tiles,  the SD4 proves to be a perfect solution when combined with Packet TV’s integrated digital signage solution. 

Audio in digital signage is arguably either often overlooked or worst yet - implemented improperly. Commonly when done incorrectly, this can be related to a symptom called “audio fatigue.” This symptom is experienced when a sound clip is repeated at such a frequency to actually have a negative effect on your display environment vs. enhancing it. While audio is not called for in every installation, when it is, having it done right can have a dramatic effect in getting your message across.

The positive effects have truly been apparent in a number of the employee/business communication based digital signage networks we have installed. Tied with short videos on safety or corporate initiatives, sound has shown itself to be very effective tool in delivering a message. Keep in mind that this specific content, is not looped continuously throughout the day - but instead is scheduled or day parted to play at strategic times of the days. Further, scheduling also takes into effected when the viewer is expected to have a longer dwell time in front of the display. Crouse Hospital deploys new digital signage system with Packet TV

Syracuse, NY November 2007 - Crouse Hospital, a historic health-care facility in the upstate NY area, has deployed a new digital signage system in the hospital’s recently renovated lobby area.

The solution designed and managed by Packet TV, uses the powerful combination of Dynasign software and the PacketCast media player platform. Incorporating both live news, events, weather, and hospital branding, the new digital signage system creates an eye catching display. “With our new digital display from Packet TV, we are now able to provide visitors and patients with up-to-the-minute news and information in our new lobby area. It’s a great customer service enhancer” stated Bob Allen, VP Communications & Governmental Affairs at Crouse.

Packet TV’s solution further allows hospital personnel to use a combination of common industry graphic tools, built-in templates and data feeds to easily and rapidly create and approve signage content.  The project, which will focus on installing additional displays throughout the facility will continue into 2008.

In its 3rd year, the FUSE conference continues to grow as Upstate New York’s signature event focused on showcasing the best of our technologies inititives, emerging business opportunities and success stories.  Evident of this focus was the partnership of Clear Channel Radio and Packet TV, who displayed information on the upcoming “Image A Space” project (http://www.imagineaspace.com/).  

The conference display was highlighted using a mixture of high energy video content and live news information supplied by both Clear Channel and Packet TV. The video was projected onto a custom freestanding  3M Vikuiti display, which allowed it to be displayed clearly in a high ambient area while also providing a visual wow factor with the ultrathin translucent screen. 

The ”Image a Space” project slated for completion this fall is being designed as an interactive shared resouce facility where CNY technology innovators, businesses, educational institutions, and entrepreneaurs can come together to promote and create new business opportunities.  Packet TV will be leading the way with highly unique and interactive solutions that will be used as a focal point for the facility.
